Mihintale

Mihintale is a sacred mountain near Anuradhapura in Sri Lanka, widely regarded as the cradle of Buddhism in the country. It is believed to be the place where Buddhism was first introduced to Sri Lanka by the monk Mahinda in the 3rd century BCE.

The site features a series of ancient stone steps leading to the summit, where visitors can explore stupas, rock carvings, and monastic ruins surrounded by peaceful forest scenery. The climb is especially popular during sunrise and sunset, offering beautiful panoramic views of the surrounding landscape.

Mihintale is an important pilgrimage site for Buddhists and a must-visit destination for travelers interested in history, spirituality, and ancient Sri Lankan heritage.
